Support Our Student Scholarship Fund for the SLA Annual Conference

On Wednesday, December 12, 2012, the St. Kate’s Special Library Association Student Group will be hosting a Silent Auction fundraiser at the Holiday Party event sponsored by MALL and SLA in the Ballroom at St. Kate’s Coeur de Catherine in St. Paul to raise funds for a scholarship. This scholarship will help send a St. Kate’s MLIS student to the SLA Annual Conference being held in San Diego in 2013. We would love your help with donations! Job Opportunity: Librarian II/Law Library at Washington County

Friends of the Libraries Event at St. Kate's: The Intersection of Politics and Media

Join SLA-MN members and  Friends of the Libraries  for: “The Intersection of Politics and Media”  Wednesday, Oct. 24 6:00-7:30 p.m.  at the Henrietta Schmoll Rauenhorst Hall  Coeur de Catherine at St. Kate’s. Presented by John Rash – Star Tribune editorial writer, Rash Report columnist. This is the Fall Gala of the Friends of the St. Catherine University Libraries. Read more about the event . After the program, SLA-MN will head to the nearby Highland Grill, 771 S. Cleveland Ave., for food, drinks and lots to talk about it! If you haven’t attended a salon before, now’s your chance. Salons offer members and non-members low-cost networking events that are educational, interesting and fun. Join our advisory committee

St. Kate's Student SLA chapter is looking for 3-4 advisory committee members.  The student chapter has a long history of presenting great events throughout the year on campus or working in conjunction with the MN SLA chapter.  We are looking for students to join our advisory committee – we welcome first year students too! We would like to continue this tradition by expanding our advisory committee.   We are looking for individuals to help plan a couple of events a year and expect the time commitment to be very minimal   We work via email with short quick meetings as needed.      Here are some details on some of our upcoming events:  Every December we host a silent auction at the MN SLA chapter holiday party.    These funds send a student member to the SLA conference every year.   And this is a great fun opportunity to network with chapter members.   We would like to host a career development type event and would love to work with our advisory committee to pl

Announcing 2012 SLA Conference Scholarship Winner

We are very excited to announce that Carol Lynn O'Gara is the winner of the 2012 SLA conference scholarship!!!    Carol Lynn is a very active co-leader of the St. Kate's student SLA group.   In fact she has done a great job coordinating the silent auction for the last couple of years.   She will graduate this fall so attending the conference this summer is perfect timing.    She is also active in the MN SLA chapter.   This scholarship is well-deserved after her years of service to the SLA student group.    Please join us in saying congratulations to Carol Lynn on this award and have fun in Chicago this summer.   We look forward to hearing about your experience when you return.
