MLIS Outside the Box II - April 8, 2013

Join us for a panel discussion on non-traditional ways to use your MLIS degree.  We have members from the MN-SLA chapter who will discuss what they do and how they use their MLIS skills and provide advice for students who are interested in non-traditional roles.

  • Chris Jacobs:  Advanced Research Specialist, 3M
    Besides her role at 3M, Chris also teaches a course on alternative careers for librarians at St. Kate’s
  • Noelle Lowrie: Global patent research leader General Mills
    Noelle recently received the 2012 SLA Minnesota Innovation in Action award from the MN SLA chapter for her work in improving a vendor product that empower researchers in the food industry to make powerful connections with data to assist them in their daily work.
  • Dru Frykburg: Senior librarian for the Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development
    Dru has a wide range of experience in the library world including working at public, academic and government agencies libraries.
  • Chad Eng: Sr. Marketing Research Consultant
    Chad provides competitive intelligence services to United Health Group who serves more than 75 million people worldwide
  • Jill Strand: Director Knowledge Resources Library Maslon Edelman Bomen & Brand, LLP
    Jill has been very active in SLA including being a past president of the MN chapter and a SLA Fellow.
