Call for Donations for the Silent Auction Scholarship Fundraiser

This scholarship will help send a St. Kate's MLIS student to the 2014 SLA Annual Conference in Vancouver. We would love your help with donations! Please let Lori Donovan know as soon as possible if you are donating to the auction. Donations are due by Thursday, December 5th.

MN-SLA Chapter Volunteer Event - September 21st

Join the MN-SLA chapter members at the 3rd annual volunteer event on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the The Science Museum of Minnesota! Volunteers are needed to prep items to be used on the floor and in classrooms. Depending on what classes and activities we have on the floor in October you could be cutting plastic bottles, making buttons, hot gluing you name it.” This is an opportunity  to volunteer, meet local library association members and spend the day at the Science Museum. Celebrate SLA-MN's 70th Anniversary on August 8th

SLA-Minnesota invites students to attend at a special price*: 70 th Anniversary Celebration  Featuring SLA President-Elect Kate Arnold PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Celebrate SLA-MN’s 70 th anniversary with us!  On August 8 th , we’ll take a look at where we’ve been and where we’re going as a chapter and an association.  SLA International President-Elect Kate Arnold, the first person outside the US to hold the position, will be our featured speaker.  Other highlights include an updated history and archives display, and one lucky attendee will win a $50 Amazon gift card! As a registered attendee, you are welcome to go to the museum early and pick up a wristband at will call to enjoy the exhibits prior to the party (a $13 value – just let them know at will call that you’re there for the SLA evening event), or the museum is open until 9 pm that evening. Lynn Stang is the awardee of this year's St. Kate's SLA Student Group Conference Scholarship. The scholarship will send Lynn to the SLA 2013 Annual Conference  in San Diego this June. Congratulations Lynn -- and enjoy the conference! 

Get Involved with the SLA Student Group

$500 Award for a CSC Student Interested in Special Librarianship

The Grieg Aspnes Memorial Award $500 Award for a  St. Catherine University Student Interested in Special Librarianship Library and Information Science students, either full-time or part-time, are invited to apply for an award of $500.00 and complimentary membership in the Special Libraries Association and the Minnesota Chapter of SLA.  The award is limited to students who will graduate in December 2013 or later.  The criteria are: Interest in special librarianship, as shown by course selection or past experience; Leadership abilities, demonstrated in either academic or extracurricular activities; Overall academic achievements. Scholarship Opportunity! 2013 SLA Annual Conference

Apply for a Scholarship to Attend the 2013 SLA Annual Conference in San Diego The 2013 SLA Conference will be held in San Diego on June 9 th through 11 th . The St. Catherine University's Special Library Association Student Group is offering a $1,200 scholarship for a student to attend the conference. Essays will be judged based on the following criteria: Evidence of involvement in SLA and the St. Kate's student group. How attending the SLA conference will impact your career and/or  education. Demonstration of commitment to the field of special librarianship. How to Apply: St. Kate's MLIS students  are encouraged to apply for this scholarship by submitting an essay of no more than 1,500 words. Thank You for a Successful Silent Auction!

Thank you to everyone who donated items and for all who bid on the entries.  We held a successful silent auction on December 12th at the SLA-MN and the MALL holiday party.  More than $800 was raised towards a scholarship to send a student to the annual SLA conference.  This year's conference will be held in San Diego.
