The Hollywood Librarian

Monday, October 1, 2007 from 7-9 PM, the LIS Department and the College of St. Catherine Library are jointly sponsoring a showing of The Hollywood Librarian: A Look at Librarians through Film (Jeanne d'Arc Auditorium from 7-9 PM). According to the website ( http://www.hollywoodlibrarian.com/about.html ) there’s a “high-tech corporate librarian” in the film. The MN Chapter will be providing popcorn and/or snacks.

Student SLA Member Awarded Grieg Aspnes Memorial Scholarship

Margaret Ostrander, current SLA student group Treasurer, was awarded the Grieg Aspnes Memorial Scholarship this year. Margaret's interested in special libraries is linked to SLA, as she comments in her scholarship essay, "The Minnesota chapter of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) and its St. Kate’s student group counterpart have played a prominent role in my passion for special libraries. SLA events afford unique networking opportunities with both future and seasoned professionals, through which I decided SLA membership should be a key piece of my professional life." This annual $2,000 scholarship is awarded to a to a College of St. Catherine MLIS student.
