Gale Family Library - Pictures

 Hello all, Earlier this month, SLA-SG had the opportunity to visit the Gale Family Library and its unique collections. Thank you to everyone who joined us! Here are some pictures we took to commemorate our visit:          The extent of the archived collections needs to be seen to be believed.                                                                        An old state map welcomes visitors at the door.               It was a great privilege to see these rare items up close, and even handle some ourselves.            A dapper gentleman made sure we left the collection as tidied up as himself.    Fire insurance maps dating back through the last century.     A sample of the library's children's books.               One of the oldest items in the collection, an antique  and beautifully illustrated history of the world. SLA-SG Spring Semester Event #2: Andersen Horticultural Library

Hello everyone, With warmer weather on the horizon, we at SLA-SG are looking to stretch our legs and greet the greener months with the second trip of Spring Semester!   This time we’re headed for the Andersen Horticultural Library . Nested in the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, this reference library is home to rare books and journals, plus vintage seed and nursery catalogs. In addition to this collection, the library itself is beautifully furnished with Nakashima handcrafted woodwork, and exhibits the ongoing Flora and Fauna Illustrata art project; for an example of this art’s quality, our flyer for this event features Claudette Dahlia by Linda Thorson.
