Silent Auction 2019 Success!

Image
Our silent auction fundraiser was successful again this year! Thank you to all who made it happen! Many information professionals and students braved the snowy evening on Monday, January 28, to be at the SLA-MN's annual holiday party, where our fundraiser was hosted. Held at the beautiful, historic James J. Hill Center, we mingled with other professionals and dined on delicious hors d'oeuvrs. We raised $712, which will go towards funding a scholarship for one student to attend the SLA national conference this year. Thank you St. Kate's MLIS students for attending, and thank you SLA-MN and MALL for organizing! UPDATED: Don't miss the annual SLA-MN Holiday Party!

Join us for a night of celebrating and connecting with fellow information professionals! This is SLA-MN's popular annual holiday event that includes excellent hors d'oeuvres, opportunities to connect with other local special librarians and information professionals, and a silent auction organized by us, the MLIS Program's SLA Student Chapter. Proceeds from the auction support a Travel Award for one MLIS student to attend the Annual National SLA Conference, to be determined by an essay contest. We are currently in the process of soliciting donations from alumni, professionals, and businesses. We will need volunteers to help set up the silent auction on the day of the event! Please let us know if you are interested in helping with the silent auction. This year the event will be held at the beautiful James J. Hill Center in downtown St. Paul. Whether it's to support SLA, network, or enjoy the amazing setting, we hope to see you there! Click HERE to get tick...

It's Celebration Time!

It's almost the end of the school year and there's lots to celebrate! Congratulations to Jill Peuranen, our SLA Scholarship winner! Jill will receive $1,000 towards attendance to the SLA Conference this summer in Philadelphia. Our second Information Professional Panel on April 30th went well. We had a last-minute fourth panelist in the fantastic Carolyn Bates, SLA-MN President and Senior Research Analyst at JLL Real Estate. As a whole, the panelists had thoughtful answers and it was an enriching experience for everyone involved. We are still looking for a President and Vice President for the 2016-2017 school year. Leading a student organization can be a great way to get professional development opportunities and boost up your resume without too much stress or time commitment. Try it out! If you or anyone else you know is interested in being an SLA officer for next year, send an email to stkatesla@gmail.com .
