COVID-19 Updates

Following the announcement from St. Catherine that all classes will be moving online for the remainder of the semester, SLA will be working to do the same . We will still be holding our April 8th meeting at 5:15 online . More details will be coming via email. Don't forget, we are taking election nominations for our event chair! Send us an email or join the meeting to nominate someone. Our hope is to hold our scheduled April 6th Professionals Panel in some online form, possibly at a later date than previously scheduled. We are working with our panelists to find the best solution and will let you know as soon as we can. There is still time to submit essays for the Travel Stipend ! DEADLINE MARCH 25th! SLA has not yet cancelled its annual meeting and so we are still moving forward with travel stipend funding. Registration is open for the SLA Annual Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina June 6-9 and current St. Kate MLIS students are invited to apply for the $1,000 Special Libraries Association Student Travel Stipend! To apply, submit a 750-1,000 word essay to Konhe Yoon ( kyoon@stkate.edu ) answering: This year's conference theme is "Drive Forward Charlotte"; how will attending the 2020 conference help you "Drive your career forward"? How are you how involved with or committed to special libraries? How would attending benefit the SLA student group, MN SLA, or the MLIS program? APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 25

Award Opportunity! SLA’s Information Technology Division’s 2019 Student Award

The Information Technology Division of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) is accepting submissions for its 2019 Joe Ann Clifton Student Award to help cover expenses at the 2019 SLA Annual Conference June 14-18, 2019, in Cleveland, OH, not to exceed $1,500.  This award is intended to promote participation in the SLA Annual Conference by an exceptional library science student (or field related to the IT Division's mission). The award also includes Student membership in SLA for one (1) year. The deadline for submission is March 25 , 2019. 2018 SLA Conference Travel Stipend Winner

Congratulations to Maggie Parra! The SLA-MN Award Committee selected Maggie to receive the 2018 SLA Conference Stipend  Award to attend the SLA annual conference in Baltimore this June. The SLA-MN Conference Travel Award is a $1,000 stipend to assist in funding airfare, hotel and conference registration. In 2008, SLA-MN established this award for a current St. Catherine University MLIS student who demonstrates a commitment to the field of special librarianship. Maggie will receive recognition of her award from Eddy Morrow, SLA-MN's President in May. Please join us in congratulating Maggie! We can't wait to hear all about SLA 2018! 

Spring Announcements

Thanks to everyone who came to our rescheduled meeting today! We have a couple of action items to think about in the next few weeks:  Information Professionals Panel -  April 10, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.  in CdC 19 ! Our panelists are confirmed and we've got a great lineup. Come hear about a variety of MLIS careers you might not have thought about before! Elections : The SLA Student Group is now accepting nominations for next year's leadership positions. If you are interested in participating in the Student Group leadership next year, please email  stkatesla@gmail.com  by  April 17 . We'll hear from the nominees at the next meeting and hold elections after that.  MLIS Summit Student Fair:  The SLA Student Group will have a poster at the MLIS Summit on  April 24 . 2017 SLA Conference Travel Stipend

We are pleased to be able to offer a travel stipend to the 2017 SLA Conference taking place June 16 to 20, 2017  in Phoenix, Arizona. Applications for the travel stipend are now being accepted until April 7, 2017. The stipend is open to all St. Kate's MLIS students.  To apply, submit a 1,500 word essay to Konhe Yoon (kyoon@stkate.edu) covering:  Your involvement with SLA and/or commitment to the field of Special Librarianship;  How attending the 2017 SLA Conference will further your career and/or education; and  How your attendance can benefit the St. Kate's MLIS program.  If you have any questions, contact stkatesla@gmail.com.  We hope you'll take advantage of this great opportunity to attend the SLA Conference!
