MN SLA Holiday Party & Silent Auction

Dear SLA Members, On Monday, December 8, 2014 , the St. Kate's Special Library Association Student Group will be hosting a Silent Auction fundraiser at the SLA Holiday Party to raise funds for a scholarship. This scholarship will help send a St. Kate's MLIS student to the 2015 SLA Annual Conference in Boston. We would love your help with donations! Here are the results from the initial SCU SLA Library Tour Survey. The word cloud indicates the types of libraries the membership is interest in touring. I will follow this up with another survey that gauges the memberships interest level for each type of library. Scholarship for the 2014 SLA Annual Conference! Apply Today!

Apply for a Scholarship to Attend the 2014 SLA Annual Conference in Vancouver, B.C.  The 2014 SLA Conference will be held in Vancouver on June 8 through 10th.   The St. Catherine University's Special Library Association Student Group is offering a $1,500 scholarship for a student to attend the conference. Essays will be judged based on the following criteria: Evidence of involvement in SLA and the St. Kate's student group. How you will use your participation to promote and improve St. Kate's MLIS program. How attending the SLA conference will impact your career and/or  education. Demonstration of commitment to the field of special librarianship. How to Apply: St. Kate's MLIS students are encouraged to apply for this scholarship by submitting an essay of no more than 1,500 words. Upcoming topics include library tours and events for the semester!   Thursday, February 13th CdC 5 5:15 - 5:45 pm     We're also still looking for volunteers to represent the SLA at MLIS social hours this week. Those are held in the MLIS hallway from 5-6p tonight (Wed),   tomorrow   (Thurs), and   Friday . Please let  Lori  know if you can make it to all or part of the hour on any of those days.
