Andersen Horticultural Library - Pictures

 Hello everyone,

Last month, SLA-SG paid a visit to the U of M's Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (or "the Arb") in Chaska, where we toured the special collections of the Andersen Horticultural Library. We'd been looking forward to this ever since Spring started, and we were so happy to have the weather cooperate for a sunny day out!

Here are some pictures we took to commemorate the event:

The library is proudly furnished with original woodwork chairs and tables designed by George Nakashima. They make the space feel like a natural extension of the Arboretum, as much an art piece as a library.

The public section of the library is a warm, cozy collection which invites you to browse its stacks for hours on end.

We were generously allowed to take pictures of some of the items exhibited for us in the climate-controlled special collection. The materials represent a wide range of subjects, from landscaping, to ornithology, and to botany, among many, many others.

We'll sign off here with one of the library's many bookish snails. Keep an eye on this blog for future event announcements.

Until next time!
